Fluid therapy can be critical to helping a pet feel better at the end of it’s life or even help them over a medical obstacle they are recovering from. This is a way to help animals maintain a normal level of hydration when oral fluids are not enough. In home fluid therapy is done by placing a needle, attached to a line, and a bag of fluid that goes under the skin giving a fluid bolus. Besides the needle poke this is not painful for the animal and can make them feel much better. For animals suffering from renal failure, the owner can be taught to give fluids on a regular basis.
