In the hospice and palliative care setting managing diet is most commonly trying to keep the pet eating as long as possible. This is more a trial and error assessment to see what the animal is willing to eat. This is not an analysis of an individual food but is about exploring the needs of your pet at this specific time in their life. As pets near the end of their life they can be eating different things on a daily basis. Thus all of us caring for the pet must be flexible and patient.
